Evaluation Tasks |
| HOME LEARNING |
Today was the last lesson looking at the changing nature of representations of gender. We had a chance to write an example point and reflect on how we could improve our written style. Many of you received feedback from your first attempts at answering this kind of question and should look to learn from the feedback offered and improve things with the next response which will be set on Friday. | HOME LEARNING |
COVER WORK Friday 7th March
Task 1
- Use the TV listings to select a 6 hour slot on a range of 5 channels.
- How many programmes have lead characters that are male? How many female? (You may need to research some of the programmes to find out about the characters and/or personalities).
- Produce graphs to demonstrate any inequality.
- You might also consider if there is any difference from channel to channel.
- You could also use graphs to show this information.
- Post on your exam notes Blog.
Task 2 - Group Work
- Your task is to produce…
- A film poster
- A synopsis
- An analysis of representations.
- This will all be based around a genre, a gender and stereotypes/countertypes as assigned:
- Huwen/Hannah/Harry - Action Film, Female, Countertype.
- Nevin/Dan/Jesse - Romance Film, Male, Countertype.
- Naomi/Chris/Nathan - Western, Male, Stereotype.
- You must create the artwork for the poster using original images and/or photography.
- You must have a design for a printed copy of your poster but the rest can be in whatever form you want – video, Keynote, interpretive dance - and be posted on your exam notes blog.
- Any questions?
- By the way I was lying about interpretive dance!

* Conduct a study of a film or TV series that has been remade at different times. Examples could include:
* Charlie’s Angels
* Star Trek
* King Kong
* Miami Vice
*…the list goes on!
* You need to create an exploration of how gender representations have changed through time using this as a case study. You might like to start with a comparison of a character which appears in both texts.
* You will be answering the following question:
How does CASESTUDY demonstrate the changing nature of representations
of masculinity and femininity?
* Extra credit will be given for the use of New Media such as making a video with a voice commentary or text, creating a podcast, or even a presentation that runs as a movie with voice over etc.
* This is individual work and needs to be posted on your examination notes blog.
| Today we delved into sexual politics and the sexual revolution of the 1960's. W cover feminism and post-feminism and discussed the relative merits of a series of female representations. This should allow you to contextualise the representations that you see in the clip in the examination. HOME LEARNING |

You all did some good research today and most of you are beginning to understand the huge differences between the British film industry and the Hollywood film industry. Over the next few lessons we will be comparing the industries and looking at these differences and seek to explain how and why they have arisen. | HOME LEARNING |
I hope that those of you who stayed behind after school today enjoyed the experience of watching Star Trek: Into Darkness on the big screen and in 3D - with free chocolates! We will start the serious business of getting to know the production and analysing it as an example of the Hollywood blockbuster on Friday. The remaining groups are moving closer to filming with at least two of then having arranged secure filming dates - well done.
